Northwood University utilizes Rave Alert emergency notification system to aid the Northwood community in monitoring notifications regarding campus changes and emergencies.
Messages appear as "NU Now" alerts, and will automatically be sent to Northwood email addresses. Constituents with Northwood credentials must login to register additional email addresses and/or mobile devices to receive text message alerts.
To sign up for the new system, visit our NU NOW! page and enter your Northwood credentials. You will automatically be signed up with your Northwood email, but must login to add your mobile number(s) and receive the notifications on your mobile device(s).

The Blackboard app is designed especially for students to view content and participate in courses.
The Northwood community has access to Rave Guardian, a free mobile app that turns any smartphone into a personal safety device. Through Guardian, users can invite friends and family to join their network as "Guardians." This allows users to request one or more of their Guardians to virtually walk with them on or off campus.
The app also has a safety feature that directly connects the user to campus security (or 911 if off-campus) in an emergency situation, as well as the ability to submit an anonymous tip to campus security should they see something suspicious.
Security and Virus Protection
Connecting to Northwood's network requires up-to-date virus protection software. Learn how to keep your device protected while at Northwood.

How to set up your NU email on your phone
Students who do not own a computer may use on-campus computer labs. Northwood has several on-campus academic computer labs, with a capacity of over 335 workstations available for student use as shown below. Please be aware that due to lab restrictions, students should NOT save any information on lab machines as they will be erased nightly between 2-6AM. See the above link for details.
The library offers laptop and notebook computers for students to check out for up to three days. Students will need to have their library cards ready and be prepared to fill out a brief form.
All campus computer labs have a laser printer for student use. A system is in place to keep track of all personal student printing. Each print job costs 10 cents for black and white and 15 cents for color. Northwood provides you a $75 balance to use toward printing at the beginning of the year. Your remaining balance will show on the desktop when you log onto a computer in one of the campus labs.
We do not currently support wireless printers.
All devices that connect to the internet via Ethernet cable or WiFi must be registered to the Northwood network in order to surf the web, watch movies and play online video games. Please follow these instructions to register all of your devices.
